Korea

In Korea, luck is highly prevalent in sleep superstition. Those dreaming of dogs are said to have an upcoming bad day. However, those dreaming of picks are said to be lucky.

Vietnam and Thailand

In Vietnam and Thailand, not speaking about a child’s appearance is considered “lucky”. In fact, discussing a baby’s appearance positively is said to negatively affect their appearance—even growth.

America

 In America, bad luck is said to follow those who break mirrors, step beneath ladders or cross paths with a black cat. Future outcomes are said to mold to one’s negative outlook on life, too.

Spain

Opening an umbrella indoors, in Spain, is considered unlucky. However, rubbing one’s lottery ticket on a pregnant woman’s belly is said to increase overall luck.

Russia

In Russia, superstitions are used to avoid a negative future. Not kissing at doorways is said to increase one’s luck, as is taking out the trash before sunset. Eating food from a knife is considered bad luck, as is looking into a mirror when returning home to find a lost item.

France

Placing a hat on a bed, In France, symbolizes negative outcomes. Similarly, wearing new clothes on Friday is said to invoke bad luck. For many, giving carnations as a gift might invoke bad luck.
